Nita Vemuri is a pianist and educator who graduated from the Bard College Conservatory of Music, earning dual degrees in Economics and Piano Performance. At Bard, she was recognized on the Dean’s List, awarded the Gilman Scholarship to study abroad in France, and named a finalist in both the Mika Hasler International Music Competition and the Bard Conservatory Concerto Competition. As a performer, Nita has appeared in solo and chamber music settings and collaborated with contemporary composers at festivals including the International Music Festival of the Adriatic, Bard Kurtág Festival, and Atlantic Music Festival. She has also participated in masterclasses with renowned artists including Logan Skelton, Anna Polonsky, Michael Stephen Brown, and Victor Rosenbaum. Passionate about education and community engagement, Nita has taught through Bard’s Musical Mentorship Initiative, providing weekly piano lessons to students from underserved families, and volunteered with the Culture Connect Program, supporting newly immigrated children and their families through tutoring and mentorship. She has also performed in community concerts throughout the Hudson Valley, helping make classical music more accessible to local audiences. Nita is dedicated to fostering each student’s musical growth through engaging, thoughtful instruction that builds confidence, creativity, and a lifelong love of music.
